What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

CORE BELIEFS

Statement of Faith
(A) This Calvary Chapel North Texas church has been formed as a fellowship
of believers in Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to Love God, Edify His body and reach the lost
(B) We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such.
In our services we focus on a “personal relationship” with God through song,
worship, prayer and the clear teaching of the Word of God. We teach both
expository and topical studies.
Beliefs
In order to identify the church as conservative in theology, and evangelical in
spirit, we set forth this general statement of fundamental beliefs:
(A) We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative
Word of God. We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as
being verbally and completely inerrant in the original writings and of
supreme and final authority in faith and life. We believe that God has not
added to, deleted from, or altered the canon of the Bible with subsequent
writings and revelations. Therefore our ministry emphasizes the exposition
of God’s Word from Genesis to Revelation.
(B) We believe there is only one God, Who is eternal and immortal
revealed in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
(C) We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life,
in His miracles, in His atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily
resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His
promised return in power and glory.
(D) We believe that the lost and sinful man must be saved, and that man’s only
hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of
God. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the
Scripture as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who
believe in Him are redeemed and justified on the grounds of His shed blood.
(E) We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith, and is a free gift from
God. It is not attained by our own works. Therefore it cannot be earned by
good works apart from faith. We believe that being born again
is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
(F) We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling
the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life; we further believe His power
and gifts are available to believers today.
(H) We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost:
They that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto
destruction of eternal damnation along with Satan and his fallen angels.
(L) We believe that man was created in the image of God; that man sinned and
thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death (separation
from God) and that all human beings are born with a sin nature.
(M) We believe that The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, Teacher and the guarantee
of our inheritance.
(N) We believe in a literal devil and his host of fallen angels, and that he is at
work in the world today. We believe that Satan is a created being, and as
such he is limited in presence and power.
(O) We believe in a literal Heaven and Hell as described in the word of God
(P) We believe that God is worthy of all praise, reverence, and love.
(Q) We believe that our supreme purpose is to love God with all our heart, mind and
soul. (Matthew 22:37)
(K) Marriage: Marriage has been ordained by God. This church defines “marriage”
as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman in which such
union is a lifetime commitment.
A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate
marriage by the church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition
of “marriage” found in these Articles

Mission

Love God
Jesus said the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with
all your heart, mind, and soul. The Bible tells us we love Him (God) because He
first loved us and gave Himself for us. The proof of God’s love is that He came
down, became a man, lived without sin, and died in our place because God so
loved. In like manner, what He wants back from us is all of us: love the Lord your
God with all your heart, mind, and soul. This is the response we aim for, to
respond to God’s love with love, offering Him all of us.
Edify the Body
Edify means to build up. As the body of Christ, we are called to build each other
up into the image and likeness of Christ. This is what discipleship is all about:
becoming more and more like the Master. It is written, “Be holy for I am holy.” We
want to be a church where we all push one another into His likeness, pray for
one another, speak Truth in love to one another, fight alongside one another,
challenge one another, and correct one another in love.
Reach the Lost
Sin is real, death is real, hell is real (Rom 3:10,23, 6:23, Rev 20:15), and the only way people can be saved is through Christ. (John 14:6) We, as the church, have been given the words of life. God has entrusted us with the task and privilege of winning souls for His kingdom. (pro 11:30) We cannot be a church that only looks in, but we must always be a church that also looks out. This includes community outreach, discipleship training, raising up future leaders to send into God’s mission field, discipling the kids in our fellowship, missions, creating and publishing online content, giving, and any other means we have for this purpose.

Core Values

Love
John 13:34–35 (NKJV) 34  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
1 John 4:8 says God is love; when we say one of our core values is love, we do not mean the worldly kind of love that approves of sin or is used to explain away God’s call to personal holiness. To be loving is to be Christ-like, forgiving, graceful, and caring, but love is more than just these things; love always speaks the truth, especially when it’s hard; love does not compromise or allow people to pursue harm unwarned.
True love always directs people back to God and away from sin. In the Bible, God always directs us to Himself and away from the world, the flesh, and the devil. This is love.
Hope
1 Peter 1:3 (NKJV)
3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, Our hope in Christ is for all eternity; only through Him can we be saved from our sins and the righteous judgment we all deserve. In this life, we are to expect persecution, hardship, and spiritual warfare, but in the end, He who overcomes will be saved.
Our hope is in Christ for the salvation of our souls. We do not trust in works, self- righteousness, or ourselves, as no one can earn their way to heaven. We overcome by keeping the faith, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. He is our hope and our eternal reward.
Truth
2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NKJV)
16  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
In Matthew 7, Jesus gives a parable about two builders: one builds his house on the sand, the other on the rock. When the storm comes, the one built on the sand
comes crashing down and is washed away, but the one built on the rock stands.
The sand represents the philosophies and false religions of the world, while the rock represents Christ and His word. To endure the storms of life and the judgment of God, we must build our house on the rock, on the work of Christ and the word of God.
Family
Ephesians 5:31–32 (NKJV)
31  “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32  This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Romans 8:16–17 (NKJV)
16  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17  and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Family is one of the greatest gifts God has given us.
God designed the family to be a place of unity, love, care, and training that produces Godliness.
(Deut 6, Eph 5:21-32, 6:1-4.) Though it can also be a source of great pain, frustration, and disappointment, this is not due to the design but the effects of sin and the fallen nature of man.
Sadly, most parents today are not equipped to disciple their children. Several parents in the church do not even know God has called them to disciple their children or where to start.
Thankfully, God’s word has the answers. He has given us a perfect design for families and all the instructions we need to succeed at home.

The church is also a family of believers bonded together in love under Christ. We are to be committed to one another, forgive one another, help one another, submit to one another in the Lord, love each other, challenge each other, pray for each other, and obey our heavenly
Father.
Family is more than just relationships that last in this life; the church is called the bride of Christ and children of God. When we understand what it means to be fathers, we gain insight into God as our Father. When we understand how to be godly husbands, we learn about how Christ interacts with us and the kind of relationship He desires with His church. When we understand the role of a wife, we better grasp our position as the church in Christ.

It is because of these ``powerful truths that the devil has launched a full-out assault on the design of the family, human sexuality, and the differences described in the Bible about men and women. (Men and women are equal in value before God but distinct in roles. (1 Cor 11:6) One
of the most important ministries we see in our local church is reclaiming the family for the glory and purposes of God. Strengthening marriages and equipping parents according to the Word to
succeed in raising Godly children.
