In this study we finish the genealogy of Shem and come to one of the most important men in the Bible, Abram, the friend of God and the father of all who walk by faith.

We start with Genesis 11:10–32, a genealogy critics love to attack. Why does Luke 3:36 include Cainan when Genesis doesn’t? Why do the Hebrew and Greek texts give different ages? We look honestly at both questions and explain why they actually strengthen our confidence in the Bible as God’s faithfully preserved Word.

Then we follow Abram from Ur of the Chaldeans into the land of promise:

• God’s call and the Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:1–3)

• Abram’s journey and the altars he built (Genesis 12:4–9)

• Fear, human wisdom, and the trip to Egypt (Genesis 12:10–20)

• Lot lifts his eyes and pitches his tent toward Sodom (Genesis 13:5–13)

• God tells Abram to lift his eyes and see the promise (Genesis 13:14–18)

Like Abram, we’re called out of the world (Our old lives and ways) to live by faith in God’s promises.
